Man poor peep and poor YOU for struggling so hard to save him. But isn’t that just how nature is? It wasn’t meant to be. After the sadness for Mia this will help her grow and learn about the cycles of life. No we don’t want then to hurt but these are great life lessons.

Aww, that poor little dear. I’m sorry he didn’t make it. Loved it all except the sad ending and of course the grossness of having a worm in the nostril.

I smiled while reading this because my husband’s FAVORITE pet as a child was a rooster they named Peep. Peep would peck at you if you did not pay attention to him and they’d keep him in their house and he’d watch TV.

Poor Mia. We have so many baby birds fall out of our trees every year. Unfortunately we always find them when it is too late.

I hope Mia finds a new pet to take care of soon.

I have to say, though, that his parents picked the perfect house to build a nest by: your background with birds guaranteed good care.

Maybe it was kind of a Moses thing. “Honey, let’s hatch junior at that house so he will be well cared for by the animal queen.”

I loved this post!! Frank has turned me into a bird lover, and a cardinal one at that. On a tragic note, we have a resident hawk that swoops onto our porch and steals sparrow babies from the birdhouse. Caitlin saw it happen in real time and the poor child is traumatized. Birds certainly make life exciting. I would not have expected anything less from you (as far as nursing the bird!!). Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you that we have a bald eagle in the area too. I’ve never seen one EVER in our stomping grounds. Did you ever see one when we still had the creek [now a SuperTarget ]?
