When there is a hurricane in the Gulf, the first thing we do, after making sure it is not coming to us is…..check the surf report.

The waves were head high, some big sets that rolled in were several feet overhead. It was fabulous. I made it to the outside once, but the current was really strong, and it did my arms in trying to paddle and paddle to stay out there. I ended up on the inside, and caught some smaller waves there.
Bill surfed until his arms fell off, so I had to drive home. ;*) Just another day in paradise.
**the whole Gustav surf set can be seen here.

wow those look like some fun waves! we haven’t seen any action lately but now that there’s a swell i have to work today : ( i’m glad it wasn’t a bad storm at your place…whew!
Hi, just came across your blog and love it! My husband & I also dream of doing something similar to you but have not figured out a viable way of making it work financially. We also have 4 kids (boy12, boy9, girl5, girl2). Do you mind if I ask….what’s your secret? How do you live the life you do? Do you sell your pics or something like that? Hope I’m not being too intrusive.
We used to love when a storm would roll through the Pacific and create big waves in the Hawaiin Islands. Some schools would let out, knowing it was hopeless to have classes on those days.
Beautiful photos! So glad you’re safe. I was wondering if the storm was near you..
xo
Awesome…are these waves in Port A?
Awesome! I love that you were out playing instead of freaking out. ;o)

Great job Bill!!!
Awesome! Glad you had a good time. I’ve got to learn how to do that one of these days.
That. Is. AWESOME!! There is great relief all around in our world that, thus far, Gustav is not the “animal” that was predicted.
(Because I always hate to speak too soon … )
I’m glad that Gustav brought you all nothing but fun!!
