Good ole St. Nicholas came in the night and left some goodies for the kids. They had hung their stockings up last night, and were so excited they couldn’t sleep. They were not disappointed! St. Nicholas left candy pops, nuts, an orange, Life Saver Storybooks, and a toy for each.
We are not Czech, but we enjoy this tradition and love the meaning behind it. We have been celebrating it since the kids started Catholic school 6 years ago. We will watch a movie about St. Nicholas when the kids get home, and the Polar Express this evening after dinner. For me, the season starts today, with the celebration of the feast of St. Nicholas
Now my house is sticky, given the fact that Mia enjoyed her “P-pop”, as she calls lollipops.

we dont do stockings i could only wish lol …have fun watching the movies
We did St. Nicholas too! My kids LOVE LOVE LOVE it! We’ve always done it. The tradition here in Germany is putting one’s shoe out in front of the door, to receive the gifts.
We had one scarey moment of realization, when our first child went to school after receiving these fantastic gifts in her shoe… while we lived in California.
She came home and instantly said “Mom, I must be the best kid around because St. Nicholas didn’t come to any of the kids in school but me.”
Whoops!
Oooo! I like your new design!
We don’t do the stockings until Christmas. My kids would flip if they found something in them now. LOL Great tradition!
