He’s stepping into liquid!

Cody got a skimmer board for Christmas, and it has changed his entire perspective about going to the beach.
Before this epic, random purchase, Cody rarely got wet when we went lately. Sure, he played in the sand, ran down the beach, raced hermit crabs, climbed all over the rocks at the jetty and enjoyed himself somewhat, but he preferred to stay high and dry. It was like he hit a certain age and the water no longer appealed to him…………..or it could have been the fact that he saw Jaws on TV. Or maybe Shark Week really got to him. Not sure, but when your family basically lives for beach time, it is a drag if you are not all that into it.
So, while shopping at the local surf shop, we grabbed a skimmer and thought, “well if Cody won’t use it, someone will”.
We found his button, and I do believe another surf rat has been born. That makes 4 for 4 now.

Hey, girl! Sorry to be ignorant, but how is a skimmer board different from a surfboard? What does it look like, and how is its function different? Great shot of Teeter Totter, by the way. Does he know his old nickname?
Iam with Pam..and that looks like a blast
The skimmer sounds cool, would like to see some pics of it and how it works. A definite plus that you’ve found a way to get Cody hooked on the beach!
Hi guys! A skimmer is a flat, carved piece of wood, and you run down the beach with it, toss it a bit ahead of you, then jump on. It skims over the shallow waves washing up on the beach and “skims” down the beach with you on it, like a rock skipping over a pond. Too fun. Cody thinks it is way better than a surf board. My tired old bones will not be trying the skimmer, as teh beach is less forgiving than the water.
I loved watching kids do this in Hawaii, I never tried though. It looks like he really has the hang of it.
thought sounds fun but i be on my butt probley more then the bored
