The verdict is in

It is not MS………………my husband had a stroke.

And I quote the radiologist:

“There is a subcentimeter lacunar infarct in the lateral posterior portion of the right centrum semiovale.”

I don’t know enough to elaborate on it. I had literally 2 minutes with my husband before he had to wisk one of the boys off to Cub Scouts.

I am so sad, scared, confused, worried, and anxious.

He is 48 years old. I want 40 more with him, dammitall.

Try to focus on the positive–that it doesn’t seem to have done any serious damage and now that he knows, he can pursue whatever medication, treatments or lifestyle changes are necessary to protect him.

So terribly sorry it had to happen at all, but at least maybe it’s good you know this way rather than having had a devastating stroke out of the blue.

    I’ll keep praying.

OK you’ve got a diagnosis and that is good. MS is really not the diagnosis you wanted so that is extra good. I’m assuming this is a TIA since it doesn’t sound like it was hemorraghic, right? Any visible signs of brain damage? What caused the stroke? Diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol, smoking, heart disease, obesity, alcohol or medications? Figuring out why can help him prevent future strokes – so prevention is key here. The TIA is the warning sign, the thing telling you that you need to pay attention to your body and fix things that need fixing. If you can wrap your head around this being a blessing then that will help. And I’m rambling which you probably didn’t want. My thoughts are with all of you.

    Oh my..
I am so glad they have figured out what happened so that they can now figure out the best way to treat it. I hope this ends up being a small obstacle on the way to those next 40 years for you both. You have been in my prayers.

  6. OMG! I never expected that to be the diagnoses.

I hope and pray for all of you that he is fine and this is easily treatable.

  7. What is up with medical people and the fact that they are completely incapable of speaking English??? I hope that all that medical mumbo-jumbo means that everything will be just fine. You’re in my thoughts and prayers.
