and baby makes 6!

It's just another day in paradise

It’s over yonder and some random bits

My newest post is up over at the Larger Families blog. This week is about relationships outside of your immediate family, so I wrote about life in a small, Texas town and the friendships here.

Come on over and check it out. Leave a comment and let me know what you think!

And drumroll………a bullet list! How ingenious!

-A bit of housekeeping…is the new template here working for everyone? Is anyone having trouble logging on or commenting? I thought I got all the bugs out, but maybe not. Let me know if there are any issues.

-According to my kids, there is no food in the house. This usually translates into “there is no milk.” How we went through 2 gallons of milk, and 2 half gallons of Rice Milk since Monday just boggles my mind.

-’I am bored’ has set in here. It is 8:52 a.m. and I have heard it 2x already. To combat this, I have hired a circus clown, a ball pit and a giant water slide for our backyard. I thought I might even learn how to juggle.

-Because I have no milk in the house, I cannot make my second cup of coffee. Mommy….NEEDS….her….CAWFEE!!!!!!!!! Mental note to self to get out of jammies and go one block to store for milk. Oh, Lord, the effort.

-Does anyone know why my daughter thinks that for me to hear her, I must have my face turned to her and be 1 inch from her face? If I am not, she will drag a chair over, and grab my face and forcefully jerk it over so I am looking at her. This happens when I am washing dishes, talking to anyone else but her, or am otherwise detained. My neck hurts.

-Why the heck do I buy plants that need water..in Texas?

-Does anyone know why I am having PMS 2 weeks before my period? With my luck, I will have it now, and again in 2 weeks. Or maybe it will even last 2 weeks. Oh goody.

-And last but not least, I will be enlisting your expert advice on what to put on my backsplash….the same backsplash of mismatched boards that has not been renovated for the 4 years we have lived in this house. Will it be tile or beadboard. Photos to follow.

  1. When my kids pull the “I’m bored” I hand them a Swiffer and tell them to get busy.

  2. Jody,
Love your new header. Mia is adorable. Your new template takes way longer to load for me than it used to and I have to scroll all the way to the bottom to find the post. I use Firefox…
I love the look though, and it may be me….

  3. It takes a long time to load but everything looks great here!

  4. It only took a month of TV to turn Sissy into an “I’m bored” expert. None of the kids EVER did the “I’m bored” thing (but we never had TV either). When she went back to the US with Jamie, she and Michael watched TV non-stop. She is FINALLY out of her “I’m bored” state, but boy, it was touch and go for a while.

Thank you SO MUCH for fixing the site. I liked the background of the other theme, but couldn’t read hardly any words.

Oh, and rice milk. Oh My Goodness, I SO miss Rice Milk. There is a store in Cancun you can get it at, and I think in Queretaro also but so far, no rice milk since February.

Oh, and I’ve solved my milk (it was soy for me) problem and now I like my coffee like I like my men. Black as the night.

Okay, so I went back to the old theme. Did that fix all the issues for everyone? Dang, that other theme was a pain. Loved
the look, but a pure pain.

Kathy, can you get soy milk in a box anywhere down there? I imagine storage room is more the issue.

I can drink regular coffee strong and black, but espresso has to have lots of pourable foam.

  6. Bore rhymes with chore, oui?

When we moved from the Midwest to the Pacific NW many of our dishes were broken. One of my older daughters made our jewel tone backsplash out of that mishap. She had to buy a few more dishes from local thrift stores and seemed to find immense enjoyment in putting those dishes in a pillowcase and slamming it on our driveway.

Yoga levels the hormones and tames the PMS.

  7. Ohhhhh I love this one! your kids are so sweet…
this skin looks so angelic and heavenly!!!
    My favorite. :)
    hugs
PS: thanks for your sweet words today:)
