I went through castings and braces and when I was 3 I got corective surgery. Living with clubbed feet has its dificulties, but it's not so bad. Today, women are getting abortions because their baby isn't perfect. Atleast it's their feet, not their head. So to womwn out their who are thinking of getting rid of their baby because it has a crooked foot or feet, just remember, it's fixable. All expectant mothers need to educate themselves about their pregnancy, their delivery options, and then, if a complication is discovered, such as a birth defect, that mother should NEVER blindly trust the medical community to have the best interests of her, or her baby, at heart. Regarding clubbed feet, I would like to recommend that the new parents of clubfooted children refer to the Ponseti Method for non-surgical treatment. I knew this after my first sonogram and never even thought of it as a defect. Just a crooked foot! He was casted at 2 days old and is now in the brace. It was the simplest treatment ever. They want perfection; they don't want the stress of a problem, no matter how minor. It is absolutely sick. I always refused those blood tests while pregnant to test for downs, etc. It wasn't going to change the outcome or my decision to continue with the pregnancy, but for many people it does. Very sad.
