Good morning TEXAS!!!

We zipped past southern Texas and are in Ft. Davis. I so hope we can get together in December when we’re not so skeered of the heat. I can’t even comment on school – it is simply insane how early it starts. Course, it totally frees up all the parks for us.

Oh, and jamie’s idea of a holy day of obligation and mine are radically different. But my mind is permanently enconsed in gutter material.

Summer can’t be over yet! Here in SD they are always trying to pass No School Before Labor Day laws. I am glad that we still have most of a month left before school starts. BUT we have very lame holidays, last year Christmas Break was just 8 days long. And Easter was just a 4 day weekend.

Gulp….We are starting on the 28th. Don’t shoot!

We’re actually eager to get started again. All those new books waiting to be delved into! Makes it kind of hard to wait until the end of the month.

But we take all of December off, and have a couple of two week breaks thrown in, so it all evens out.

Holy Days of Obligation? Isn’t that laundry and grocery day?

my kids start Monday. I don’t get it. I think its b/c of all those stupid half days and teacher days.

Oh man, in France, school doesn’t start until September 4th. I can’t imagine sending my girls to school so soon, it’s still summer for goodness sakes!

hell yea….school started the 10th for my little sister and now theres talk about school year round my mom says it better not go through it not fair to the kids which me being one i also say”it better not.”

in New England we start after labor day too. thank goodness.

But my niece’s birthday is Aug 17 and she is regularly back to school by then, and she’s in Amarillo. It boggles my mind.

you guys usually get out earlier though – we’re in until mid-to late june.

OMG YES! I thought the 23rd when my kids go back was too early. The tenth is like robbing you of a whole month of summer!

I hope they get more enthusiastic as the year progresses.

I like the new look!
We’ve always started after Labor Day here in NJ, thankfully! I reserve the last week before school starts for trips to the beach.
A friend who is moving to NC may have year-round school for her boys, not something I would like.
