Just a couple of photo faves from this weekend
We took a day trip to Port A on Sunday. It was a gorgeous day, complete with some little waves.
Heading to the beach

Skimming for fish
My man, heading for the water. He was not posing….he was looking up the beach and was pissed at something Cory was doing to his brother. Lean, mean surfing machine! LOL!
Now, go get your kids and show them the next picture. I want a kid to ID this fish. They can use any means available, including the internet, but they must give me the Genus and species of this fish! Any child that answers correct will get a prize.
HINT: The fisherman on the beach called it a “lookdown” fish.

Absolutely awesome pictures. I wish I were there. I absolutely crave the ocean deep down in my soul. These are awesome memories.
These are beautiful Jodi. We went to the ocean on Sunday too!
Hey there! I’ve missed you! I’ve enjoyed getting caught up on your breastfeeding pictures, school returning adventures!
It looks like it was a glorious day at the beach. I am longing for cooler weather and sand that is actually attached to water right now. I think the last two weeks of August are the only times I start to really dislike where I live. LOL
Gorgeous pics
My 11yo says the fish is a selene vomer and it’s a baby (he says you can tell by the size and the long rays coming off the fins). He googled and found out it’s of the family carangidae, order perciformes, class actinopterygiae.
I have no idea how he knew what fish this was, as we only keep tropicals and this is at most brackish!
We were also at the ocean’s edge this weekend, though we were crossing a rope-bridge rather than at a beach this time
its and angle fish my grandma has alot of those …and cute picture and iam a kid lol
NO clue on the fish, but then again, I’m not a kid. 8^)
BooHoo to the end of summer. The pictures on the rest of your post just do not agree that summer is over. Keep enjoying the sunny days while you can!!
You would probably be happy to hear that the more I see of your beach pictures, the more I want to visit the beach, and I’m not a beach fan. Mia is just gorgeous, and your boys are so very handsome.
no clue on the fish here, either – my kids got freaked out by the fact that it wasn’t in the ocean. I had to talk them down and explain that the fish was OK and back in the water.
Anyhow – gorgeous pictures. I love how happy and content everyone appears to be. The sandy beach is really appealing up here in rocky-beach-world!
aww cute photos
Deb, your son got it right! E-mail me at the CONTACT ME button top right, and send me a mailing addy so I can send your son a little prize.
Rachel, your girls are too cute. Unfortunately, Mr. Lookdown was involved in an unfortunate accident. There were some fishermen cast netting for finger mullet on the beach, and he ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time. The fishermen were letting my boys go through their baskets of fish, and we saw him in one. Lookdowns are rare on the Gulf coast.
It’s LUCKY!!! There is a book somewhere in Port A that has a book about Lucky Lookdown. Do you guys have it? We picked it up (along with another I forgot) when we were there in 2001. Long ago. So, how’s Lucky doing?
Great photos!!!
