Its hard for me to feel sorry for anyone spending the winter on the Texas coast. What you describe as clausterphobic is a typical Pittsburgh fall winter and spring! We learn to deal, usually with the help of happy pills and fruit based drinks! We did finally get some white stuff this week and the ski hills were hopping. We were able to spend a long weekend at our house in the Laurel Mountains. It was bliss! I don’t think I let the fire go out for 3 days.
