and baby makes 6!

It's just another day in paradise

I aim to please

I switched the colors around for fonts and background. Is this easier to read?

And added more posts per page.

I aim to please.

On the house front, we are in the middle of finding a lender who will not charge us $8700 in closing costs. Someone quoted us that and I swear I felt angina at the exact moment that I scrolled down to the “Total estimate of settling costs”. I then went straight into coronary arrest when I read the “Estimated Total Monthy Payment”, which was exactly 4 times what we are paying for our current house.

Taxes were estimated at 3 times what we are paying now, and insurance was almost triple.

THIS IS TEXAS WE ARE TALKING ABOUT Wells Fargo, not California.

We are meeting with someone else tomorrow to see if we can get some accurate numbers. The ones we got today are from Mars, I swear. Or maybe I am from Mars. Or Mayberry. Or maybe the town we are moving from has been in some kind of a time warp and I am just stepping into 2007 and the realities that most people face.

I mean, it is not like we are trying to buy a house with a pool in it, right? ;*)

  1. Sadly, whatever you have done to your site has made it completely unreadable. :(

I didn’t think you had been writing at ALL because the only that showed up was the photo header and a couple ads if you scrolled down. On a whim I used my mouse to ‘highlight’ the page and found words!!! The words don’t show up until you do so.

Not even the comments. :) I had to highlight this to see it. LOL.

(I thought it was perfectly fine before BTW – I’ve never had a problem reading!)

  2. Your site is working great for me. I can get to it through both the old and new URL, and it is staying current on my Bloglines. I see pictures, ads, categories, links, “feed” buttons, etc. FWIW, I am coming to you through Bloglines on Explorer, via a Verizon PC Card dial-up connection. I don’t know if the server or operating system readers are using have anything to do with this particular problem, but I have heard of them affecting things on other sites. I’ll check on my cable connection when I get home. Will let you know if anything is different. Good luck.

Apparently Texas has the highest home insurance rates in the U.S.
We experienced some major sticker shock when we were buying our house.

You might try Nationwide…for us it was probably a good third cheaper than all the other companies we looked at.

  4. The site looks much better in Maxthon now (and therefore, presumably, also in IE). However in other browsers, it’s completely broken, as meritt says above. In Firefox and Opera, the background for the main section is grey – the same colour as the page background, as the same colour as the text. Therefore the text isn’t visible.

When it works, it’s easier to read :-)

  5. YEAH it’s back now. :)

Yep – I use Firefox mostly (IE about .5% of the time) but now that you are back I am happy.

  6. I use Firefox, too, and couldn’t see anything yesterday. Thanks for fixing whatever you did!

Ugh about the closing costs. Hope you find something better. I swear, property taxes here in TX are insane. Thank goodness ours went down this year.

  7. Supurb! Thanks for making us happy :) !!
