and baby makes 6!

It's just another day in paradise

Bill, the minimalist

If it were up to my husband, all of the countertops and furniture in this house would have nothing on them. Nothing, nada, zilch.

Our bedside tables have been bare since the furniture arrived, and I had added an old lamp to mine for the purpose of illumination while I read.

Bill did not want a lamp. His philosophy is that the bed is for sleeping, one other thing, and nothing else, so why should he need a bedside lamp?

Well, alrighty then.

In come the coral lamps.

I ordered them a week ago, and they arrived today. I set them up, and called Bill in to see them.

He was like, “Um, I don’t want a lamp.”

And I am like, “Um, well, you have one now.”

He said “Oh…..well, take it back”.

And I am all, “Whoops, they were special order and cannot be returned”.

So, my husband has his first ever bedside lamp, and he is less than excited.

Myself? I am not sure how I feel about my non-returnable, coral lamps. I like them, but then again………

What do you think, oh worthy internets?

  1. The lamps are definately unique. I’m with your husband on the minimalist thinking, but the lamps go well with the room and tie together the bed and wall art, I like that they pull the coral-red from the bed. And I think you need two … the bed and wall art basically create mirror images, only one lamp would throw that off.

  2. I like them :)

  3. They’re perfect!! Except for the fact that Bill doesn’t like them. How about this…Just tell Bill that he is N-E-V-E-R obligated to use his, and you’ll save a bundle on light bulbs over the years. 8^)

  4. I like them, and I like that they tie in so well with your quilt, and art pieces in both the bedroom and the bathroom.
I am person who likes things, all kinds of things. Minimal clutter, but things. I have a blue zillion Longaberger baskets that my husband loathes, among other stuffs. Im just a stuffs kinda gal. But not cluttery stuffs. Cute stuffs.

  5. I absolutely love the uniqueness of these lamps. I especially love the two together but also IF he insisted you send it back I would buy IT!!!!!! LOL I love them, I think they are gorgeous and they so bring out the colors in your quilt and pictures. You have awesome taste Jody indeed!!

  6. Found you from Chris’s site…and I LOVE the lamps…very pretty!

  7. Hey, they match your quilt! Bet you planned that, huh? :}

Hmm…could you hang a necktie off the coral??? Maybe that would spark his interest. Although, it wouldn’t fit in with the minimalist idea…

Looks minimalist to me! My bedside table is covered in old magazines, newspapers and Barbies. Looks gorgeous! I like the paint color.

  9. I’m drooling over your bedroom! The lamps compliment your overall scheme perfectly!

  10. I think they’re cute. And that room does not look cluttered at all. If you want to see too much stuff, come look at my bedroom.

I think they are the icing on the cake. They are really fabulous and tie the whole theme together. Before you could kinda guess the theme after looking a little, but now it really makes it obvious in a very good way. What if you put those coral pictures over the bed so the lamps could stand on their own?? I think it looks great, but I guess hubby’s opinion is quite important.=)

  12. I like them a lot. They co-ordinate so nicely with your room.

And Bill doesn’t have to use his. He can just ignore it ;-)

  13. Wow, I love them! I’m with Chris, Bill can just not use his lamp. The house looks great.

  14. I like them!
…and my husband would say the same thing, mine’s not in to decorating at all, but when I want to spend money on home decorating and he balks and I ask about his three different bikes and how can he ride all three at the same time…this is the moment when he shrugs

  15. I think they look great! They are fun & unique — tie into a passion of both of your — and match the room perfectly. Enjoy them. :)

  16. Mine is covered with stacks of books and magazines too….
What would I do without my nightly reads??
    Very unique lamps…
